Narissa's Return!
« on: September 11, 2010, 01:33:04 AM »
...did not happen. Jammond and Narissa had a long, touchy reuniting moment - remember, he is the baron that pushed for her to be removed from the Thakrian council, which led to Mhorion's ejection of Narissa and refusal to reinduct. Narissa has finally accepted it all and wants to return to Thakria - and now, after everything, THANATOS (whotf is this? Some first age god?) swoops in and ejects her.

Pissed off at gods hopping in to REVERSE PLAYER ACTIONS with such a heavy hand.

Well... he is the patron of Thakria.  Sounds like he is well within his rights to eject you.

Most First age Gods are pretty shit to be honest. Thanatos has been missing for a while and pops on now and then to eject a few citizens or to help those who best please him. To be honest some Gods in First Age have made the place so bad that I have left but I have always found Thanatos to be one of the few gods who at times can be harse but also fair. Thanatos had a habit of booting Thakrian citizens to make them better be it killing more people or to get them back on track in his opinion of what a Thakrian should be. Of all Gods in First Age he is maybe the one god who really looks after those who please him best and his role play is always excellent.

Give him time and you will see he is pretty cool and this is coming from someone who has been against his followers for a long time and who has been on the end of his punishments a few times. Most other gods from First Age I wouldnt even bother with.

I disagree... the First Age Gods are quite awesome and much more approachable than the majority of Gods in Legends. You actually have the ability as a commoner in First Age to grow a bond and friendship with the Gods without being expected to Patron them immediately.

Legends is a vastly different realm than First Age is, I've had a tough time adjusting. Thanatos is extremely harsh, and to me, it feels like he will react brashly, then immediately turn around and try to make amends to prevent players from "tattle-telling" ... Just my two cents.

He may be Thakria's patron, but he, the player, has no clue who the historical citizens of Thakria are - and he apparently won't listen to his own citizens. The god may be omnipotent, but the player isn't - and his inability to type HELP NARISSA to find out who she is/her role in Thakria is pretty damn embarassing for him...and passing off such ignorance as "divine" actions is just a joke.

To Thorongil's assertion about FA gods, I make a protest on behalf of the one I knew best: Diomedes, the God of War in FA.  Knew the game very well, knew the combat skills quite well, and whenever he was on (which was quite often) his temple became a sort of combat school for people to try things.  There was no pressure to patron him first; and, in fact, he was choosy about who he admitted to his order.  (He had a healthy respect for RP and encouraged it, as did some of the other gods.  He also respected players who really made an effort to learn their skills and find creative ways to use them.  If you could show him something new or surprise him, he was delighted.)  He was lots of fun, but not in a huggy or jokey way; and he taught players a great deal.

Frankly, he'd be a factor in my decision about returning to Avalon and whether to return to FA or Legends.  But I don't know if he is currently active, or in which realm...

Algernon:

Diomedes is still active in FA, one of the few active ones left. And he is still exactly as you remember - his temple is a hub for learning. I agree with every bit you said, there was never any pressure to patron him, he offered his aid to anyone and everyone until they showed him disrespect. One of the most respectable deities AND players I have ever met.
