Narissa - A true History.
« on: April 29, 2009, 01:43:38 PM »
I've been reading posts here and I guess since my self imposed exile Narissa somehow turned into an ass kicker.

I just thought I would point out the history of her life from the point of view of someone who had her scream profanities at after stripping and killing her repeatedly.

Narissa was a firstage mage who joined springdale. After an uninspiring tenure as a mage (very poor mage) she moved to parrius. There she eventually went bandit.

She eventually re-started the thieves and plaman in his old man insanity agreed to merge bandits into thieves and thus bandits disapeared.

Narissa took SOI from springdale in one of my absences. I came back and Pahn,Rikki,Sajora, and I retook everything to the lake. In the process narissa lost thousands of parrian men and got killed and stripped, along with Krill. (Sajora and I shipped them both many many times, they tried to fight us but lost, Krill is mediocre as a knight and narissa hadn't gotten her thief skill changes yet)

So after failing in parrius, she moves to thakria.  One year we assault thakria and take down thakrian gates to almost broken. That year every single mine was an iron mine and they spawned like never before or after. So she saved thakria (to her credit she/krill played narissa almost 24 hours a day) Single handedly saving thakria. I should say honorable mention to Loremasters who gave her like hundreds of iron to bolster defences.

Narissa in PvP.

I think I'd still put Sajora pre- ranger nerfs and thief buffs over Narissa as the best female fighter in Avalon.

She is not the powerhouse some of you think she is. Nobody can improve to that level. Alister by far for me was more difficult than Nari. Flip yank into trap, close door over and over till she gets a bind or you die. That was the extent of her strategy completely wasting the awsesomeness that is trapping. This is very common in female fighters (sorry guys but it's true) they latch on to one thing that works and don't deviate from it. For example krystal and tapdance aria. If it makes you feel any better though the womble is much the same way no imagination in his play and slow to change and adapt. I liked fighting vs ender joely threap and cordon. Their ability to adapt and try new approaches made them dangerous.

Sorry I digress.

This may sound harsh to some of you, I assure you I have no personal emnity to Narissa except for the nerfs to spiritualism she caused. Compared to the history you all think she had or she says she had this history seems a bit harsh. Sadly it's true though.

One more thing Avalon Warfare is complicated but it is to strategic fighting what Avalon is to tactical fighting. Narissa says she is bored with Avalon pvp that is because, again, she only has the one trick.

As far as I am concerend Avalon is the premire pvp fighting system bar none. You just have to be hardcore, be relentless, hold nothing back.
I don't think Nari fought like that. I think that the current state of avalonian passivness is a little her fault. Teaming tactics to fighters she couldn't beat alone I know for a fact drove away alot of big SD fighters.

That is the reality..

Wow.  You know, I thought I did self-righteous well.  You seriously put that much effort into bashing someone's character...  I guess I have to give you some kudos for the sheer audacity.  Or maybe you're just looking to stir a flame war - whatever.

As a relative late-comer to the game, I just wish I had a dollar for every time someone claimed someone else "ruined" Avalon.  There's always something to whine about, isn't there?  This person is a pacifist, that person doesn't play fair, that other sorcerer over there in the corner jumps little people, and that one - well that one right there complains to the gods and gets things changed.

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe Avalon was meant to be a living game?  We have so many people who pop in, and cause changes within the game.  Add to that that we have immortals with the capabilities to change things as well.  I'm fairly convinced.

I think what some players lack is the ability to adapt to the changes that are made.  Rather than blaming someone else for "ruining Avalon"  maybe you should think about what makes it less enjoyable these days for you.  So it's harder.  So your spiritualism is a little less predictable and harder to control.  A top tier person should be able to over-come that - correct?

I'm going to make a suggestion - rather than flame someone else - take the system and make it work for you.  Show some adaptability.  I'd say that would make your point more than anything.

So I guess every member of the Knight profession fights like a girl? JJ works, we don't deviate from it.

I've known Dunccan a long time and I would say he actually DOES adapt to what everyone else gets changed. I give props for that.

He came to an OOC source to bitch about someone else, instead of in game, I give props for that.

You come in here and post nonsense that doesn't help the situation, so zip it! YOU GET NO PROPS!

PS. Avalon IS a living game, and it's subbers raise and lower in numbers constantly, and this is MOST LIKELY due to other players actions, good or bad!
So yes, people can actually 'ruin it' for others.

My HELP file clearly shows the classes I've been. Since Dunccan didn't even get that first bit right, I'll leave you all to determine the validity of the rest of his post.

So are you gona come back and fight as Narissa or what. It's rock and roll time. Lets show Avalon what an elite thief you are.

Again, HELP NARISSA shows my entire professional history. Narissa has never, ever been a mage in Avalon.

Also, doubt I'll return for a while. Being kicked out of Thakria (while dormant) kinda kills any interest in playing Narissa and I'm pretty busy RL. There is a writing job up right now in the dev department downstairs, so I'm crossing my fingers on getting that.

He said 'first age' mage at the beginning of his post. Probably knew you on the other server...if you played. In any case, I would say another reason why, Rajj, there aren't as many people around is probably because Avalon is the only MUD to my knowledge that you have to Pay-to-Play.

There are other MUD's that have hundreds of people on at any given time, with the option to donate to the game for credits to transfer into lessons or buy special items with. However, they aren't Avalon. Avalon is indeed unique, I just don't think it's real potential will be brought out and tested while you have to pay for it, especially in the current economy.

Im not goin to join this argument again except that help files have and always will be suspect, because with little persuading, Genesis will change things

I honestly never was a mage. And uhh, I lived in Merc for RL months before being Parrian. I have no idea where this mage thing comes from - I've always been a physical fighter, never a magic user.... :(

Kresslack, that isn't even an issue. He said "Narissa" was a mage. Whether the player played another character that was, or played an FA character that was, is irrelevant. What he said was that that one character was. That is the debate, so who the heck cares if she played an FA mage?
