Selfish, greedy Katie - and trying to lie her way out of it
« on: January 31, 2009, 05:44:09 PM »
You tell Katie, "Genesis said that if you order the animals loyal to
me again I can resume looking after them, so I'd appreciate if
you'd do so".

Katie tells you, "That's not what I'm being told. If you would like
to help that is more than welcome tho.".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "I just told Katie that you would
allow me to resume looking after the animals and she replied".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "Katie tells you, "That's not
what I'm being told. If you would like to help that is more than
welcome tho."".

Genesis, the god of time tells you, "So that's good. She's offering
you to help her with all the pasture animals. She may have mistake
you saying you could look after the alpacas in thep asture as you
saying you wanted her 'out'".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "Did you or did you not say if
she ordered the animals loyal to me that I could have them back?".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "MYSELF?".

Genesis, the god of time tells you, "IF being the operative word
there. It's her call.".

You tell Katie, "Are you refusing to order the animals loyal to me
again and return them to my care?".

Genesis, the god of time tells you, "However, I'm not getting
involved in an endless debate here. What I said was clear. Alpacas
yours to keep there, rest of pasture Katie's to decide - but if she
gives it all over to you, then you can look after them and be in
charge of them.".

Katie tells you, "Lord Genesis has said not to. So yes.".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "You tell Katie, "Are you
refusing to order the animals loyal to me again and return them to
my care?"".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "Katie tells you, "Lord Genesis
has said not to. So yes."".

Genesis, the god of time tells you, "You two are foolish. Genesis
did not say that. Genesis said it was Katie's choice. Genesis says
to Rynn it is Katie's choice. This is not rocket science".

Katie tells you, "The sanctuary is to be for everyone however, so
you are more that welcome to help with the care of the animals if
you like.".

You tell Katie, "Genesis, the god of time tells you, "You two are
foolish. Genesis did not say that. Genesis said it was Katie's
choice. Genesis says to Rynn it is Katie's choice. This is not
rocket science"".

You tell Katie, "Are you refusing to order the animals loyal to me
again and return them to my care?".

Katie tells you, "I'm done with this conversation. I have been given
my direction. Again, you are more than welcome to help out with the
sanctuary if you like.".

You tell Katie, "Are you refusing to order the animals loyal to me
again and return them to my care?".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "Katie tells you, "I'm done with
this conversation. I have been given my direction. Again, you are
more than welcome to help out with the sanctuary if you like."".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "She's sticking with her story
that you have told her not to order them loyal to me".

Genesis, the god of time tells you, "You're going to be switched off
if you keep on like this and lose your alpacas. You're losing it.
Take a few steps back and chill".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "She's lying in an effort to make
it look like she's not being a selfish brat and keeping them
herself.".

You tell Katie, "You realize that I'm copying all you replies to
Genesis, right?".

Katie tells you, "That's fine. ".

You tell Katie, "He knows you're lying".

You tell Katie, "Do you really want to take that path again? You
know what happened last time".

You tell Katie, "Genesis, the god of time tells you, "If Katie, to
whom I've entrusted the sanctuary now, agrees to allow you your
former role then I'm happy for you to take it up again. Otherwise
now it's her turn to have a shot."".

You tell Katie, "That doesn't sound like he's telling you not to
order them loyal to me. It's perfectly clear to me.".

Katie tells you, "Yes, read that again. There is no order for me to
give them back to you. He's saying that I could, if I wanted to,
but not required.".

*alarms* Oh no! Caught red handed in a lie!! Quick back-pedal! Spin! Spin! Spin! Spin! Spin! *alarms*

You tell Katie, "No, there is no order that you must. But you said
that he told you not to".

You tell Katie, "So you are refusing to return them to me and
keeping them for yourself?".

Katie tells you, "I have been told that the animals are now under my
care and can remain that way. ".

You tell Katie, "So you are refusing to return them to me and
keeping them for yourself?".

Katie tells you, "Again, you are welcome to help with the
sanctuary.".

You tell Katie, "So you are refusing to return them to me and
keeping them for yourself?".

***long silence***
(notice how hard she's trying not to answer the question directly)

You tell Katie, "So you are refusing to return them to me and are
keeping them for yourself?".

You tell Katie, "So you show your true colors. You are a selfish
brat who wants to keep all the toys for herself.".

You tell Katie, "This will of course be posted to the legends
board".

Katie tells you, "You are more than welcome to help with the
sanctuary, as is anyone who wishes to help care for the animals.".

You tell Katie, "But you are refusing to return them to me and would
prefer to keep them all for yourself.".

You tell Katie, "They were given to me and Genesis has agreed to
allow them to be returned to me but you are refusing".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "So it looks like Katie is
keeping the animals. Figures".

Katie tells you, "I was told that I now have a chance to care for
the animals, and can continue to do so. Why would I allow you to
attempt to bully me into turning them back over to you?".

You tell Katie, "You're supposed to be this unselfish and giving
person. They were given to me, I handed them over to Chasity when
Genesis and I had a falling out. He handed them over to you.".

You tell Katie, "Now Genesis and I have smoothed things out but
you're refusing to return them to me".

You tell Katie, "You can but you won't".

Katie tells you, "I don't know anything about all that, but I have
been told that it is my turn now. Like I said, you can help out if
you like, but if your only intention now is to try and strong arm
me into ordering them loyal to you it's not going to happen.".

You tell Katie, "You have been told that you can return them to my
care but you are refusing to do so".

You tell Katie, "You are not the unselfish person you pretend to be
and now everyone will know it".

Katie tells you, "I have also been told that I am not requires to
turn them over to you. That you lost your chance.".

You tell Katie, "No, you are not required to do so. It is your
choice and you are choosing to keep them for yourself rather than
return them to me".

You tell Katie, "I did not lose my chance. Genesis did not take them
from me. I gave them to Chasity and Genesis took them from Chasity
and gave them to you. As I've told you many times now, Genesis is
fine with you returning them to me".

You tell Katie, "You're just being selfish and keeping them".

Katie tells you, "I am very honoured to be entrusted with the care
of the animals in the sanctuary and will do my best to protest the
spirit of what Lord Genesis has planned there.".

Katie tells you, "He is also fine with me keeping the caretaker
position.".

You tell Katie, "So you will because you are selfish".
561h, 106m efi-

Katie tells you, "Do you want to help out with the sanctuary?".

You tell Katie, "Oh, I will be. I'll be adding alpacas to the
herd.".

You tell Katie, "And they will be in those pastures.".

You tell Katie, "But the fact remains that you are selfish and are
refusing to return my animals to me".

Katie tells you, "Great, you are more than welcome to help with the
sanctuary.".

Katie tells you, "I do not have your animals, I have Lord Genesis's
animals.".

You tell Katie, "It is not for you to allow me access to the
sanctuary".

You tell Katie, "You are selfish and now everyone will no it".
561h, 106m efi-

You tell Katie, "You have proven it absolutely".

You tell Katie, "You have shown your true colors for all to see and
they will".

Katie tells you, "I never denied you access to the sanctuary and
would appreciate your help there.".

You tell Katie, "That's stupid because you couldn't deny me access
to the sanctuary".

You tell Katie, "But you are refusing to return the animals to me".

You tell Katie, "Because you want to keep them for yourself".

You tell Katie, "Apparently you don't feel you've been given enough
gifts".

Katie tells you, "I will continue to care for the animals until such
time when Lord Genesis places them into another's care.".

You tell Katie, "The wings, tree form and unicorn aren't enough for
you".

You tell Katie, "You want it ALL".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "So this is what Katie does when
you give her the choice to be the bigger person and give the
animals back to me.".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, ""Katie tells you, I will
continue to care for the animals until such time when Lord Genesis
places them into another's care."".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "*shrug*".

You tell Genesis, the god of time, "I wish I could say I'm
surprised".

You tell Katie, "You are a selfish brat".

When I looked at this i personally think you misunderstood what she said, but then again I may be wrong.

This seems as though you could be right here but im not sure you've understood the situation correctly.

However, I would like to state that you blatantly refering to yourself posting this on the legends board is pretty childish, as well as obviously out of character.

*Sigh*  I don't know about the alpacas, but the bats in the belfry are all loyal to Rynn.

Look, if you're going to be all legalistic about following the word of Genesis, why didn't you take a step back and chill when he asked you to?

Anyway, thanks for the entertaining read.  I think Katie would make an excellent kindergarten teacher.

Alpacas??? I hear they make great meatloaf. Entebbe was looking for some new recipes...

...How about I...err...hold onto these creatures while you girls sort out your differences? Temporarily, of course!

I can definitely empathize with you, Rynn, in the sense that diplomacy is also not my strong suit. However, I think such an art would have served you well in this instance. In general, people don’t like being told what to do, how they should act, what they are or are not, or feel like they’re being bullied/roped into a decision. I’m afraid Katie reacted in the best way she could in this situation.   I also agree with Narissa. I'd love a chance to nurture them. grin*

Well, I'd have to say that his is a prime example of someone losing responsibilities and then wanting them back when another has taken interest and over. Trying to manipulate words to get what you want is never a way to gain your objective. I think Rynn should have agreed to help and if she really wanted the animals to care for, would have then proved herself the better caregiver in that situation......Just my two cents!  ;D ;)

This post is a really good example of why forums like this shouldn't exist.  Or maybe players like this... hmm.

Hrmf. I rather like my forums- I think it can help Avalon along... but you're right- this isn't a place for petty revenge either.

Ender's just an old curmudgeon - everything was always better back when he played!

Though, he may be right, in the broad sense about how forums detrimentally can affect the game. In Avalon's case, no, I don't think they do. IRE games, though...definitely.

The reason I think forums like this (sorry Elmak - but then again I setup the Thieves version of this site myself - so call me a hypocrite if you like) are counter productive to the world of Avalon is tied in directly with my post in Tarian's Roleplaying Guide.

They break the 'rules' of interaction.

The same can be said of MSN (which is also the devil's work).
Or e-mail.
Or meets in rl.
Or two people who know each other in rl both playing the game.
Or hostplay (now that was a long time ago).

Basically - all of these systems bring into question the whole IC / OOC rubbish that the game would be better to avoid completely.

However, I am also guilty of every offence mentioned above.  I'm not proposing that people should attempt to stop the above methods of communication, all I wish is that they use them with the knowledge that they are undermining Avalon in the process.

And no, I'm not an old curmudgeon - as I firmly believe that everything was more or less identical in the old days. To quote someone dangerously smart (me) "Games don't change half as quickly as players do". - Me.

Undermining Avalon? Try playing a bit. The player base and admin do that well enough, without having to point fingers at the forums.

Ender appears to be suffering from "nostalgia" - akin to how children view childhood through rosy glasses, he is seeing his Avalon days through a diffused lens.
