Narissa and a Very Young Lightfingers
« on: October 06, 2008, 05:00:22 PM »
Having just moved into my new house, I was being given the tour by Narissa and this conversation transpired:

Narissa says, "No charge for the parrot".

Lightfingers says, "So long as he's not as mouthy as you.", with a wink.

Lightfingers follows Narissa downwards to Entry Hall.

Lightfingers utters a deep, rumbling laugh.

Narissa says, "And you can bring your Druid to the bedroom".

Lightfingers nods his head emphatically.

Narissa says, "Apparently I've strewn it with rose petals".

Lightfingers thanks Narissa profusely.

Narissa snorts arrogantly.

Lightfingers says, "Jealous?".

Narissa says, "Always".

Narissa ponders the problem for a moment.

Lightfingers tilts his head and listens intently.

Narissa leans casually against the doorframe of the entry, staring across the
hall at the young thief.

Lightfingers sneaks a sip from his flask.

Narissa idly adds, "You'll want to decorate it," her tone distracted, as she
frowns.

Narissa says, "A divine can help with that".

Lightfingers says, "I'll have to look into that then... ".

Lightfingers says, "Although... I don't need much".

Narissa glances up again at him, her eyes narrowed. "I suppose I am a bit,
though," she says absently.

Lightfingers looks at her blankly, clearly puzzled at her comment on jealousy.

Narissa points to the barren floor and blank walls. "It's dull," she mutters
in disdain, her voice more loud as she quickly shifts topic again.

Lightfingers reveals himself from his hiding place.

Narissa crosses her arms, shrugging, a sullen note back in her voice. "Dull
homes are not for Thieves," she asserts. "This is where we hide all the
wonders! Homes are where we can really be ourselves and not have to worry
about tricking the world.".

Lightfingers says, "Which is why the sewers suit me just fine... I don't need fancy things... never had them and
don't need them".

Lightfingers says, "When I steal, I give to friends or trade..... I don't do it for belongings but for the sheer fact
that I'm good at it".

Narissa plants one hand on her hip, staring across the room. "Hrmph," she
snorts.

Lightfingers says, "I like what I do..... Sorry to burst your bubble... Princess.", in a rather sour tone .

Lightfingers draws his hand towards his chest and bows low, clearly meant for sarcastic punctuation.

Narissa tosses her hair, her eyes glinting with a look of amused malice. "And
for rewarding the ladies," she says with a smirk.
"Bah!" Lightfingers retorts disgustedly.

Lightfingers says, "I'm not THAT shallow....... well... maybe a bit..... But not THAT bad".

Narissa offers a wide-eyed stare, a mock innocent veneer over an undertone of
subtle scorn. "Oh, don't be silly," she coos. "I've led this guild long
enough that I know how my boys act.".

Lightfingers scoffs arrogently. "If you spent more time with me, you'd
see how wrong you are...". .

Narissa purses her lips, considering him for a moment. "I'm not really
accusing you of anything, Lightfingers," she finally says with a slight,
tired sigh.

Narissa shrugs again, leaning back heavily into the shadows cloaking the door.
With a low mutter, she finishes, "Boys will be boys," her tone lilting almost
sadly on the final word.

Lightfingers grumbles. She hears something about Princesses and
spoiled... mixed between curses.

Narissa tilts her head, her slight build appearing even smaller by the depth
of the shadows about her.

Lightfingers place his hands on his hips and says, "Hmm!".

Narissa says softly, "Many of my Thieves... I envision grand things for."
Pausing, her words falter, coming out stilted and harsh. "I...see them being
worth so much...".

Lightfingers whispers, "What's worth so much? The Thieves themselves or what they
accomplish?".

Narissa shrugs again, the movement almost resigned. "Even my best students
seem content with things far below their worth.".

Lightfingers winces and says, "I had that coming...".

Narissa says simply, "Goals. Achievements. Lovers.".

Narissa says, "You're not the first. And I have no right to be upset".

Narissa says, "Chalk it up to being essentially the only female in a guild of
rowdy boys".

Narissa snorts arrogantly.

Lightfingers resolves himself. "Perhaps your goals are too high for the
people you surround yourself with. Myself included... You actually accomplish
things... And fast".

Lightfingers pauses.

Lightfingers says, "You are so strong...".

Lightfingers says, "And you HAVE to be even stronger with your boys...".

Narissa raises an eyebrow in amusement. "I'm quite the opposite, dear," she
laughs. "It's simply a matter of understanding leverage.".

Narissa says, "With the right mindset, thinking and application of force, even
small little girls can topple mighty men".

Narissa flashes a wry smile, her eyes sparkling off the faint glow from the
stave in the middle of the hall.

Lightfingers looks sheepish. "Understood. There was never any doubt
about your ability from me. BUT..... It's a lot for you to carry... As a
person." he says attempting to clarify.

Lightfingers says, "When do you get time for what YOU want...".

Lightfingers says, "Without your people or guild in mind...".
Narissa shrugs again. Brushing her hair back from her face. "Rarely," she says
shortly.

Narissa says, "This is why I do not have lovers, or children".

Narissa says, "That, and I'd have to be protecting them, quite likely. Quite a
hassle".

Narissa snorts arrogantly.

Lightfingers looks at her with a modicum of pity. "That sucks, Nari" he
says sincerely. There is no jest in his face.

Narissa narrows her eyes, staring at you with a slight blush. "I wasn't asking
for pity," she says quickly. "I wanted the crown, and, eventually I learned
to want the guild leadership.

Narissa says, her voice snappish and slightly pouting, "You can love whoever
you want.".

Lightfingers shows his pity even without request. "I just want you to
get what you want in the end. You've done so much for so many...". He stops
because he realizes he's kissing her ass."I don't know..." he says...
defeated.

Lightfingers shrugs his shoulders casually.

Narissa says, "I only criticize because I see a lot of potential in you".
Your rune-bug picks up words; Narissa says, "I only criticize because I see a
lot of potential in you".

Narissa says, "But, in the end, what makes you happy is far more important".

Lightfingers says, "Potential's a bitch."".

Narissa laughs lightly.

Lightfingers' face goes a pretty shade of pink.

Lightfingers says, "I'm worried because you have so much faith in me.....".

Lightfingers says, "If I fail... I'll be crushed".

Narissa says, "It's an odd relationship all us Thieves have".

Narissa says, "To me, you are all my students, sons, friends, and, in some
ways, like lovers. I share far more with my guild than with any others".

Narissa says, "There is an intimacy that comes from sharing secrets and dying
beside another to guard those".

Narissa says, "I'm allowed my moments of bitchiness, in any case. I don't mean
any of it".

Narissa's face has just gone a pretty shade of pink.

Lightfingers says, "That's what has me so twisted sometimes. I don't know if I wanna fight you or fuck you..... It's a lot to
work out.".

Narissa blinks.

Lightfingers says, "I get it." he says choosing his words carefully, "... but how do you balance it?".

Narissa says, "I have a lot of enemies who say the same...For different
reasons, I suppose".

Narissa lets a musical laugh fall from her lips.

Lightfingers' face breaks into an amiable grin.

Lightfingers sneaks a sip from his flask.

Lightfingers says, "I guess that's why we all have our habits..... ", eyeing his flask with a certain level of guilt.

Lightfingers says, "Balance in all things." and winks wryly.

Lightfingers chuckles long and heartily.

Narissa shrugs again, one hand drifting to the doorframe. Frowning to herself,
she idly picks at a splinter of wood, her posture softening somewhat into a
rather fragile slump.

Narissa says, "Sometimes I don't. Then I just kill. I have...a rather bad
reputation for being callous and cruel. I suppose it's been earned".

You hear a thump coming from beyond a nearby door, followed by muffled
cursing.

Lightfingers sighs heavily. "You need a break. You look like hell. You
sound like hell. Here's an idea... try and smile... And not that sarcastic
one you do all the time either".

Lightfingers nudges Narissa suggestively.

Panurge surveys his surroundings scrupulously.

Lightfingers says, "Pfft... didn't think so."

Narissa jumps up in surprise, blinking at Panurge.

Narissa bends down and feels the ground beneath her feet.

Narissa's face finally shows signs of comprehension.

Narissa says, "Luck".

Narissa grins in an amiable manner.

Panurge says, "Gos ye a house, wha size is it?".

Lightfingers says, "Eh... It's alright".

Narissa peers dubiously at the door, pressing one hand to her temple. "Duty
calls," she grunts, pushing away from the frame.

Lightfingers offers a clumsy wave.

Panurge says, "'ow many rooms?".

Lightfingers says, "Not sure... only seen the entry and the bed... long day.".

Narissa turns back to Lightfingers quickly, eyes narrowed. "I trust you'll have to
discretion to not mention this...weak moment," she says coldly.

Lightfingers narrows his eyes playfully at Narissa and says with a shrug, "Perhaps..... it is a game of leverage after-all."

Lightfingers winks at Narissa.

Narissa grins wryly.

Narissa says, "And you think you have a chance of failing?".

Narissa snorts arrogantly.

Narissa has just gone above.

Narissa calls upon her thiefly agility and flits out-and-away.

Only as soft as a cute fluffy little bunny... stuffed with yarl. >_<
Some people are like Slinkies. They have no practical use whatsoever, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
