You lurch towards <target> and stab them in the back, was what I was talking about. You can do it hidden and it applies one venom and stuns I think, and does more damage than doublestab.
You can run....but you'll just die tired.

Right, Kresslack, Elmak is also talking about the same thing. That is the stealth skill ability of stab which takes someone off balance, removes a fixed amount of damage, and with ultimate poisons administers 2 poisons per stab. A ranger can use a charm and then jab with a sword/a knife with full statistics, but they can’t charm and then stab. Hence, why Elmak said there is no difference between stab and double stab, save the number of poisons administered; the damage is still the same.

Wow. If you're going to do thread necromancy, at least try to not be completely wrong on every single point...

Greetings,

You are all assuming that the intent is for all classes to be equal.

It is not.

Knights are supposed to be the best toe to toe fighters in avalon.
It is why they can't portal, they can't hide, they can't resurrect themselves, there is really no escape for a knight stuck in a closed room. A knights attacks except for berserk affect only one single target. And cannot be used over a brod area.

You should take the Overall class and it's impact in Avalon.

Knights should be better at melee combat, the best, no one better. (all things being equal)

Thieves should be the best at sneaking around and breaking into things, laying in wait and assasinating with surprise. If you attack a knight head on you really arn't supposed to win.

Rangers get a very bad situation vs knights. They have very high health in bear form and don't have the traps that thieves have to slow down the damage. Then again, a ranger shouldn't be able to kill a knight in a city, that is not the rangers reason to exist.

I can continue on. But basicaly the end point is this. A knight is designed to be the most deadly single target  melee fighter.

A sorceror single target magic damage class.

Thief/Ranger Metacombat roles but decent in combat.

Mage multi-target support.

Bard best class in the game. If you are excellent. If not don't bother.

Loremaster, heavy metacombat support role, heavy melee/city protection role.
Best all around game experience class weak on poisons in combat.

Seer, Best metacombat roll in the game. Heavy Griefing. Again if you arn't good and mobile don't bother to pvp. The great thing about seer is you don't have to pvp to be effective.

I hope this enlightens some of you.

Dunccan.

Oddly enough I am forced to agree with Dunccan in general terms, if not on all of the specifics.

There is no reason nor need for 1 on 1 class balance in Avalon - in fact, it would be detrimental to the game.

Oh, I've always loved that about Avalon, how each class has their role. Changes, lately, though have made that unbalanced, I think. Things like Thieves being unable to move targets, LMs able to pick locks, etc...
