Rynn actually used to be one of my favorite people. I left for a bit and when I returned everyone was talking about how crazy she'd gone. My first instinct was of course to defend her, which I did. Unfortunately I was mistaken and she had gone from someone who was actually a pretty decent person to her present state of psychosis. My feelings are mixed between pity and irritation.

Rynn was an enticing mystery for me for much of my time here.  People would whisper Rynn's name and roll their eyes.  I never really heard what happened and on the rare occasions we crossed paths she was perfectly nice to me.  I don't get what she's about, what she did in the past, or what her aim is now.  She certainly has a brave mouth, though, which is her undoing.  She has a knack for making unnecessary enemies because her anger gets control of her tongue.

Erm....well...I rather like Rynn *grin (please cease from throwing your rotten apples at me). I think she is misunderstood and I think this helps lead to her *cough* current state of mind. I do think that sometimes she instigates the attacks on her, but I can't help but feel that Avalon must be a very rough way of life for her and I give her props for continuing to take the beatings delt her and show up in land. She has helped me personally on many occassions since I was a lil' un, and I never forget a kind deed *smile

A summary of India's biased view:

In her early years Rynn worked hard for Mercinae and was a promising citizen. However like many young who have not experienced the destruction of warfare she fell into the trap of thinking that it was acceptable to be social and indeed even romantically involved with a Thakrian.

Alister was enemied to Mercinae and had become adept at attacking citizens and yet she entertained him in her house on Mercinae SOI which was unacceptable. When Mercinae fighters executed him in this place she was outraged that it had occured on her property, that she had determined should be a safe zone for this particular Thakrian.

Her believes in a safe zone for her lover in Mercinae would not be compromised and she was ejected from Mercinae. Fate had dealt her an unlucky hand as Alister soon spurned her for another and took a particularly sadistic interest in slaying her and ensuring her shops were emptied.

She spiralled into insanity using her life-giving animist skills to kill and wandering the lands as a mumbling, ranting outcast for many years.

It seems in recent times that she has found a haven in Springdale and a quieter life.

India currently has no interaction whatsoever with Rynn. The only likely future exception would be a Springdalian LW issue or should Rynn become a Baron and city interaction become necessary.

Alright, I'm going to be using a lot of self control here, and do this outside of Rakira's eyes, some what. My first encounters with Rynn were pleasant enough, I remember the first time she left I was actually kinda sad (this was pre Alister) to see her go. She was very good with the young, great with commodities and an all around nice person. Then, obviously, she began to change as Alister found interest in another woman (no idea who that was *whistle*) Rakira's first reaction was to feel bad and apologize, but she can sometimes not know what to do and seem very apathetic in an attempt to not offend or say the wrong thing in such a time. From this point, we go non Rakira as from here it was all retaliations.

Rynn was torn from the break up with Alister and was deeply depressed and couldn't seem to find someone to understand her pain. As time passed, she got very bitter, and I believe this is why she became the way she is. With that said, lets break it down.

Pros: Great with commodities

Cons: Too filled with hatred to let everything go and move on, which I think most Avalonians would be glad to see and help her with.

Rynn has the hawts for me. She keeps trying to flirt with me. Or something.

No, poor Rynn, really. I kinda can see where she's coming from. I have a character in another game who got screwed over by some bitchy people, and really, bad luck just kept compounding until more and more people joined in harassing her (mostly unrelated to each other, but the WEIGHT of the separate things is hard to separate as individual things). Sometimes, even though it really makes things worse in the long term, it feels like the best move is just to give in to it and lash out suicidially.

It is only a temporary fix, though, and won't make things better overall. Gotta get out of that frame of reference and that cycle - it's hard, but it's doable. Things are way more fun when it's not masochistic (and yes, masochistic IS fun in a way - you're a bit enthralled by the new drama, wondering what shit is gonna fall next, and it's almost like scab peeling - what MORE can I endure?). In Avalon, Rynn's situation is actually a bit similar to how Narissa was when she left Parrius - before she made her fairly life-changing move to Thakria.

So yeah, I think Rynn's situation started out as things going poorly, likely without her really making them so, and then snowballed from there, and she's not able to see the way out, so she's revelling where she is. For what it's worth, I've been there, and I understand - the wonderful thing about MUDs is that pretty much EVERYTHING can be fixed, with time and effort.

Having gotten to know Rynn rather well in recent times, I think I'll put my few coins in. When it was first mentioned of Rynn becoming Springdalian I had a few concerns, having heard many tales of her, but I try to judge people on personal experiences and not what I hear through rumors.

I will say this, Rynn joined Springdale and immediately gave 110% to help her city and her citymates. She did all that was asked of her and more. Her dedication was outstanding.

Yes, she did have a few spats with fellow citizens along the way, but then again I think we all have at one time or another.

I like Rynn, I respect her dedication to her friends and city. Though I do think at times, Rynn's temper is her own worse enemy. I like to think I understand her, she does not give her trust or loyalty easily, but when she does, she does not falter in them, unless you screw her over.

As the obscure saying goes, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Rynn does not forgive betrayals or trespasses against her. Nor does she sit idly by when she sees something she feels is inappropriate or unfair.

I would say I consider Rynn a friend and I haven't waivered in my support of her as a Springdalian citizen or as a friend.

Wow, I did the same exact thing then got booted by you....

Is this a male thing? Because I swear there is a non-sexist help file somewhere :)

Nah it wasn't a sexist thing...... more like a Rajj thing.

One major difference was, the city patron wasn't pushing for Rynn to get the boot. Rynn wasn't being a complete ass to the barons either.

Having no prior dealings with her, EVER...

I'm standing talking to an old friend in Parrius about nothing in particular when Rynn decides that, for some reason, I'm worth mulching.

Turns out I'd just missed her losing some possessions to him.  Of course, as I was standing IN THE CITY IN WHICH I LIVE, I must be guilty of aiding and abetting him.

Thoughts on Rynn?  What do you think they are, right now?

Seeing as I had the same skills as she did, and under argument of many people, I used my skills in defense only!! Except TWICE.
1 - Narissa, and 1 - Zilveren.

Now Rynn really needs to check herself recently and she is completely abusing her decompose.

She seeked in and decomposed Katie within 5 seconds of her logging in.

I mean come on, grow up a tad? Also, quit bringing REAL LIFE shit into Avalon Rynn, it's not right!
