Aphaia, watching the tide.
« on: December 26, 2008, 10:23:01 AM »
Aphaia is at a stage in her life where she is feeling a little restless.

She is not someone to simply float and see where the current takes her - after all, it might dash her onto the rocks!

Some feedback/advice on her character and progress in the land so far would be helpful in determining which course to plot in future.

Sabrelon hasn't had very many interactions with Aphaia other then a challenge here and there.

However, what he has seen and heard from other sources has got him a bit interested.

I think she's got a great attitude when it comes to learning to fight, and with a bit more actual Fighting she could get good.

Aphaia is one of my favourite people in Springdale. She's much more calm and level headed about things than Allys could ever dream of being.  She's one of the few people that Allys thinks is always genuine.

Her fighting has come a long ways, and she still has a long way to go- but as Sabrelon said- she's definately got the right attitude for it! I think she just needs to be a bit more assertive in her sparring, and get her Cmud settings in order!

Aphaia's been taking on more of a mentor type roll within the guild in recent days, and this has been a pleasure for Allys to watch. I think teaching the youth will only help Aphaia improve!

Oooh, Allys, thank you for the lovely feedback.

But there are two phrases that strike fear into my heart:

1. El Salvador is here

2. CMud settings

Which makes me cringe more? It is very hard to say...

Aphaia has the heart of a lion and the patience of a saint. I have fought many a challenge with her and we always discuss her progress at the end. I can say that she is determined and brave beyond most in her class. I love her character and I look forward to the day that she gets past that overwhelmed feeling and really comes into her own as a fighter.

I have to be honest - I cannot recall ever interacting with her. :(

Perhaps she is a bit insular? I have not been absent THAT much...

Narissa

You were once courteous enough to allow me to visit my patron's temple in your city, although I admit I took the precaution of requesting safe passage while I was under divine protection, just in case it should slip your memory...

But it is true that I have never been lucky enough to meet you in person. Hmm, on second thoughts, I think that should read:

But it is true that I have been lucky enough never to meet you in person. I am sure my health is better for it.

Insular? In RL yes, absolutely, in that I am an islander, one who dwells on an island, and is proud of it. Island folk are usually tough and self-reliant.

I believe you are in a Western USA time zone, whereas I am in an Eastern European one. It is rare indeed for you to be in the land when I am there; we are separated by many meridians.

However I am sure that our paths will cross sooner or later. In fact, I rather suspect that you will make a point of seeking me out one day. I wish I could say that I look forward to it.

But I am sure that the pleasure will be all yours.

Yeesh, you make it sound like I'm mean. :(

My point was more that Aphaia is very SD-focused and widening her interactions can lead to many interesting new options. Read through the RP logs, perhaps - death isn't the only thing you can do with Thakrians, for example. :P

Yeah seriously..... there's so much more to us than death. There's the maiming, dismemberment, torture, unprotected relations with our working ladies... the list goes on and on.

unprotected relations with our working ladies

Something I should know about? /: |  Fungus indeed....

I also know very little about aphaia, unfortunately. She should roam the land a bit more- stir up some trouble! ;) Things are always more interesting that way....

Since the original post Aphaia has moved around the land quite a bit. She loved being Parrian but followed her Lord to Mercinae when he was deposed as patron of the pirate city.

Aphaia wants to move back to Parrius in due course but at the moment she's enjoying being Mercinaen, although Lord Proteus is not the patron of either city now.

She's getting quite grown-up (80 years old) and skilled in some aspects of the game, but still has a LONG way to go with her fighting.

Maybe time for a review of her character though? How has she developed? Which way to go?
