Hmm...how I started playing? Funny story that....erm not really. When I was a kid I used to watch my brother play this old computer graphic game called Quest for Glory on floppy disks. Back towards the end of 2006, I had recently moved to an area and still found my weekends pretty free and I was a bit bored. I started an on-line search for Quest for Glory Games and among that search came RPG and Avalon. I didn't even know what RPG stood for! *LOL. So anyways, I logged on and found Avalon pretty fascinating. I loved (and still do) the diversity of characters and even though the land itself is extremely intriguing I stay for the characters and people I'm privileged to meet while in land. I had no clue what a MUD was and had a heck of a time learning Z-mud. Even now, you may see me wandering around Avalon not having a clue what in the world I am doing!!!! *ROFL (ps. Did I mention I LOVE emotes?)

Sick of watching my household play WOW and Fiesta and Rappelz (sp?) and a little sad that my poor old pc wasn't up to anything flashy, I went looking for something I could play. I guess I was looking for something like Zork but instead I found Avalon. How could I resist when it mixed words and imagination with my favourite legend (in name anyway)? Now, I'm hooked  ;D

I was in a shitty patch in my life and was trying to distract myself and was sick of internet surfing. I decided to look for an online RPG, googled that, and happened to click Avalon, the rest's history.

It was the fall of 2000, I had just started my freshman year in college.  I didn't take on a very big class load, so I had a LOT of free time.  I had always been involved in some kind of RPG, be it some earlier MUDS on Telnet, or pen-and-paper types, so I was looking into something like that online.

I first stumbled into some type of client that allowed people to set up a pen-and-paper type game using online tools.  That wasn't doing it for me, so I did a google search for 'online RPG' and found Avalon in the mix.  Everything about it interested me, so I tried it out.

Solan was not actually my first true character.  I first had a Parrian Ranger that I played for about four months.  He was nothing more than a comm slave huggy that knew nothing about fighting.  My most popular murderers were Sorcerers, whom I seemed to love pissing off by triggering Dance Dawn the instant night fell.  Seeing as how they never had any problems dispatching me, even the smaller ones, I decided I had had enough.  Goodbye huggy Ranger, hello Sorcerer Solan.  Death and destruction suit my playstyle far better than playing a huggy Ranger, but I was essentially a newbie all over, because I knew nothing of combat and fighting.  I've never looked back, never played the Ranger or anything else again, and I never will.

I totally loved video games from the time I was a little girl.  *shrug*  some people just do.  I was about 14 and learning my way around the internet (1999?) when I stumbled upon Terris.  I loved this idea of text based gaming and I played that for a little while but it didn't really do it for me so I searched around a little and ended up making my first character Fayak on FA.  I played her for several years on and off before I finally made the crossover to the new and improved Avalon.  I've taken many long breaks, but I always seem to find my way back.

When I was a a kid I had a friend who discovered the game but I couldn't afford a modem, the telephone calls or credits at the time! So I used to phone him up while he was playing and he'd describe what was going on!!

I was hooked just from that and eventually I saved up my pennies and bought an "illegal" 2400bps modem for my 286 so I could play too.

Have been playing on and off (mostly off) since 1993, its weird how you can never quite shake the habit :)

Yeah... that's a no-go. My wife is trying to vamp me so she can summon at will.

Sounds kinky.

I was in a rather nasty car accident that the PTSD from wouldn't let me out of my room except for at night because the accident had affected my vision temporarily and it was freaking me out to go out during the day- I was effectively a vampire, really (No relation at all to Light's comments above, although....). I was unable to go to class and I needed to find something that would fully distract me from the healing process so that I could have, at least temporary, bouts of sanity and peace between doctor visits. I kept trying to find free mmo's, but everything I ran into only let you do so much in a day, and that's when I ran into avalon. I didn't even know you had to pay for it until I started getting messages saying my time was getting shorter, and a very young me had asked, and I remember distinctly, Narissa and Achelous about it and found out it was true, heheh. So, eventually, I thought avalon was so endearing that I decided to subscribe, and I've pretty much been around annoying people, causing havoc, breaking hearts, and making people lose sleep at night over me ever since. ;P My original issues that made me join avalon are long gone now, I'm happy to say, and my vision is perfectly fine, I'm perfectly fine, although I still have to go say 'hi' to the ophthalmologist every so often as per the protocol of what happened, but I'm glad I found my way here. I've met some amazing people that I'm grateful for having had the chance to speak and interact with, and hope to continue to do so on into the future. :)
