The Avalon Addiction

I've been racking my brains for years.  This is the usual amount of time it takes for my grey cells to begin working and start coming up with answers.

Question : What is it that makes Avalon so addictive?

I remember staying online 24 hours somedays as well as setting my alarm for 4am harvesting!  I'd miss days at work, just to play.  I became a recluse at the computer for months on end.  WHY?

Why now, 6 years after starting and about 2 years after leaving do i crave to earn enough spare cash and have enough hours in the day to start playing it again?

I've tried others, Iron Realms make some fun games but they don't stick.  I was there when Akanbar started up, but even after becomming the first 'ruler' of a city, i didn't stay.

So i put it to you, What is it that makes Avalon so addictive??  Answers please!!
